Questions? We Have Answers.

Choosing the right college and navigating the enrollment process can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make it easier.

This page brings together answers to the most common questions about admissions, programs, registration, financial aid, campus life and technology. Whether you’re a prospective student, a parent or already part of our campus community, you’ll find helpful information to guide you every step of the way.

Admissions

Can I enroll without a high school diploma?

Applicants need a high school diploma or GED to enroll in degree programs. Without one, you may attend as a non-matriculated student but lose financial aid eligibility.

Can I be accepted with an IEP diploma?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) diploma is not considered equivalent to a high school diploma by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). IEP diploma holders may attend as a non-matriculated student, but must earn a GED to gain full admission and aid eligibility.

What does open enrollment mean?

Clinton offers open enrollment for non-nursing students, meaning you automatically qualify for admission if you hold a high school diploma or GED.

The Nursing Program is selective. If you are a current Clinton Community College student in a non-nursing major seeking admission into the nursing program, you should submit this application. All other interested students should apply using the SUNY Application.

What constitutes full-time study?

Full-time students take anywhere from 12–18 semester credit hours per term.

What transcripts are required?

Degree-seeking students must submit official transcripts from high school (or GED) and all prior colleges attended.

Do I need immunization records?

Yes, immunization documentation is required. Learn more about Proof of Immunization.

Do I need to attend orientation if I previously attended college?

Orientation is required for all new students, including transfers. There are several dates scheduled during the month of August each year. Please contact the Academic Advising and Student Support Office at 518-562-4144 for further information.

Can I change my schedule after registration?

Yes, schedule changes (add/drop) are allowed using the Add/Drop form, with advisor and registrar approval. Contact the Academic Advising and Student Support Office at 518-562-4144 for further assistance.

I have a felony conviction or disciplinary dismissal—can I still attend?

A felony conviction will not have an impact on your admission. Applicants who have been convicted of a felony no longer need to provide additional information for admissions purposes. You will need to provide this information only if you intend to register for an internship or clinical studies, which requires Supplemental Form F as well as a copy of your criminal record. Once we have received those documents, they will be considered by our Review Committee.

Applicants who have been dismissed from another college for disciplinary reasons must complete Supplemental Form D, which will be reviewed by the Admissions Review Committee.
